The Pop Shop

Growing up in Queens NY Sonia always found herself in the kitchen with her mom. Especially during the holiday season to help her mom make traditional Guyanese cakes, such as black. sponge and fruit cake to give out to her family. One day she was home alone and wanted to bake something herself so she tried her luck to make cake pops but it quickly became a delicious mess, marking the end of that short era. Fast forward a couple years later to 2020 when the world stopped, Sonia was stuck at home and bored. To conquer her boredom she decided to challenge herself with the task of making cake pops once again. This time she had the encouragement of her family, which made it so much easier. After hours of struggling, laughs and tears she made her first beautiful set of cake pops. After her family had tried the treats, they decided that she needed to take baking seriously. This encouraged her to make a business and put her baking genes that had passed down by her mom to good use. Baking is like an escape from reality for her and everything around her disappears when she creates these delicious treats.
